>> YEAR 7 TRANSITION
We would once again like to welcome you and your child to the Nicholas Chamberlaine family.
Over the last few weeks Mr Smith (Assistant Head), Mr Brindley (Year 7 Lead), Ms Flounders (Head of Year 7) and the transition team have been liaising with primary schools to find out some key information that will help us get to know your child well. We know this is an exciting, but also possibly anxious time. Our team is incredibly experienced and there will be many measures in place to allow all children the smoothest possible transition into our school.
On Wednesday 6th July 2022 we are delighted to invite all of our new students to spend the day with us. This will give us a chance to meet them and for them to see what our school has to offer. This will be a very exciting day. Students will spend most of the day with their new tutor. There will be various activities on offer, one of which will be a sports based session so we recommend that your child attends in their primary school PE kit. We would also like to invite parents to come into school on the evening of 6th July from 6:30pm to meet your child’s tutor and other key staff. This evening will give you the chance to share any specific information about your child. Ms Roberts, the SENCo will also be available on that evening. You will also be given the chance to meet with your child’s tutor during the first two weeks in September.
There is lots of information in the transition pack and you can also find all of the key information on our website. We will now be working with the Schoolwear Centre in Nuneaton to provide school uniform. They will be in school during the afternoon and evening on 6th July to allow students to try on uniform and give you the opportunity to order items on that day.
The autumn term will begin with a free trip to Drayton Manor on Thursday 1st September. We plan to leave Nicholas Chamberlaine at 9:30 am and return at approximately 5pm. Nicholas Chamberlaine staff will supervise the travel to and from the park and then students will spend the day with their tutor and tutor group. In order for us to book the tickets and arrange coaches, please return the consent form on 6th July when you attend the Induction Evening. If you are unable to attend then please drop the form into reception or send it via email. We will then confirm more details by the end of term. We would also ask that you complete the home/school agreement and acceptable use form and return them in the same manner.
Year 7 students will be expected to be in school on Friday 2nd September. We have planned activities that are based around team building and these will give the students the chance to get to know new people in their form groups as well as meeting key members of staff. Students will get to know our routines and expectations as well as sampling many lessons. School will be closed to students on Monday 5th September for teacher training and will reopen on Tuesday 6th September. We will provide more details of this programme on Induction Day.
If you have any further questions then please contact Mr Smith or Ms Flounders at email@example.com. We very much look forward to meeting you all.
