>> ABOUT

Our OFSTED rated GOOD Sixth Form is an excellent place to study ‘A’ Levels and Level 3 vocational qualifications in a nurturing and supportive environment. 83% of our students on average choose to go on to universities to study a wide variety of subjects with an increasing number having the grades to go to the top universities in the UK.

Last year one student went to Durham University to study Mathematics, others went to University of Birmingham, Exeter University, Sheffield University and Manchester University to study subjects ranging from Geography, Business Management, Engineering and Psychology to name but a few. All other students either took up an apprenticeship or a full-time job.

Grades have continued to increase with 85% gaining A* – C grades in 2021 and 46% gaining A* – B grades.

We pride ourselves in the additional support we offer all our students. The past few years have been challenging in so many ways, yet our students continue to thrive and develop the skills needed to become successful young adults. Pastoral and academic support are provided through the tutor system and also through the pastoral team within Sixth Form. All students take part in enrichment activities designed to develop the softer skills such as communication, team building, decision making and problem solving alongside academic studies. All students are taken to UCAS and Apprenticeship Fairs in Year 12 to kick start their future career choices and ongoing support is provided throughout Sixth Form.

Entry requirements are a minimum of 5 Level 4/5 qualifications, including English and Mathematics. To study Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics at A level you will need at least a level 6 in that subject at GCSE.

This summer the Sixth Form is being expanded with new dedicated Sixth Form spaces created to include independent and group study areas,

a student common room, student kitchen area, dedicated outside area, coffee shop style zone and quiet reflection space.
